To turn off Window update therefore:
Go to Search at the lower left side of your screen as shown below, and type ‘Control Panel’.
From the options that pop up, select ‘Control Panel’.
From the screen that opens, from the far right, click on the ‘Category’ and change the ‘view by’ to ‘Large Icons’ as shown below.
Click on the Administrative Tools on the next screen that pops up.
Locate and double-click on Services from the next screen that pops up.
Scroll all the way down and locate ‘Windows Update’.
On the ‘Windows Update Properties (Local Computer)’ screen that pops up, click ‘stop’ and watch how Windows update your command. Now if you do it this way, it will only apply to local section.
To permanently disable the Auto Update:
On the same screen, click on ‘Startup Type’ and select ‘Disable’
Click ‘ok’ at the lower end of the screen. This will automatically apply what you have done to your system.
Follow the above procedure to make sure your PC does not auto update anymore.
Note: This approach applies to both Windows Home and Windows Professional Edition.
