In absolutely shocking news (sarcasm!), Sergio Romero is probably going to be the first player to leave Man United this summer.
The story comes from Football Insider, who have been rather reliable when it comes to Manchester United transfer stories recently.
Apparently, the £50k-a-week (Sportekz) United star is ‘likely’ to be the first player to seal a January exit away from the club.
It’s claimed that the Red Devils are ‘keen’ to cash in on the 33-year-old next month – and will sell him if their £2million asking price is met by any potential suitors.
Football insider also claim that United would be willing to loan Romero out, but only if a potential buyer pays his £100k-a-week wages. Although I disagree with their take on how much the Argentine earns… Sportekz have been superb when it comes to how much players take home while I see no real evidence on FI’s story about where they’ve come up with that fee.
Anyway, that’s unimportant. They key thing is that Romero is likely to get his wish to leave Man United. Which is obviously great news for everyone.
United have been simply unfair with Romero
The way this whole saga has played out just leaves a sour taste in the mouth. United have treated a brilliant servant to this club completely unfairly and it knocks me sick.
All for what? A measly £2million transfer fee? The Reds should have just signed off on his move to Everton over the summer and let him be happy. Sure, he may have been a direct opponent a couple of times a year but that’s better than dearly upsetting someone who has been brilliant for us.
Wherever Romero ends up, he has my blessing. I truly hope he moves to a big club who can offer him regular minutes as it’s the least he deserves.
Although Romero will probably be the first one out, I’d imagine a certain Frenchman won’t be too far behind…
