Paul Pogba has scored two goals in his last three games as he hits a period of fine form

Paul Pogba looks back to his best as the Manchester United midfielder netted a brilliant winner against Fulham on Wednesday night, talkSPORT was told.

Pogba has been in and out of the United team in recent months and struggled to consistently perform for manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer.

Transfer speculation, fuelled by his agent Mino Raiola, has not helped with claims made that Pogba wanted to quit the club as soon as possible.

The 27-year-old was re-signed by the Red Devils in 2016 for a then world record £89.3million transfer fee.

There have been glimpses of the player he was at Juventus, but the problem has often been showing his best form regularly.

His last three United games have been standout performances, though, with two winning goals and there should have been a third.

The World Cup winner netted the decisive goals against Burnley and Fulham while a fine chance at Anfield against reigning champions Liverpool was not put away due to a top-class save from goalkeeper Alisson.

Man United returned to the top of the Premier League as a result of Pogba’s winner

talkSPORT host Jason Cundy thinks we may finally be seeing the best from Pogba in a Red Devils shirt.

Speaking on Wednesday night’s Sports Bar, Cundy said: “Credit to United, and what a brilliant strike from Pogba.

“Pogba has got that swagger back and there are things about United now where they are getting results and you aren’t surprised.

“Even though it’s a tough place they found a way to win.”

United have returned to the top of the table ahead of rivals Man City, having played one game more.

Pogba may have returned to his best, according to Jason Cundy

Cundy added: “I think you have to say that [they will be up there] as there is a consistency about them.

“There’s a level of performance that wasn’t there early on in the season and they found a way.

“That’s what football is about sometimes; doing the basics well, the first goal was a poor goal from United’s point of view.

“[Ademola] Lookman played really well, he took his chance well, but United didn’t get going until 15 or 20 minutes in.

“I thought Fulham looked quite comfortable, but once United got the equaliser you did feel Fulham were going to succumb.”
