Manchester United’s under-23 side were back in action on Friday evening.
The Red Devils were no doubt full of confidence heading into the tie after putting six goals past both Blackburn and Liverpool recently.
And though they were without the services of Amad Diallo, United would still dominate Arsenal and come away with the win.
United’s top scorer in the PL2 this season, Joe Hugill, set up Harvey Neville for the game’s opening goal.
Hugill then got on the goalscoring action himself 60 minutes in, before Shola Shoretire made it 3-0 from the spot 89 minutes in:
Bruno Fernandes’ advice to Man United’s academy stars
Now, in a recent interview, Bruno Fernandes has been offering advice to Man United’s academy stars.
The Portuguese has been the Manchester powerhouse’s standout star since joining from Sporting over a year ago, with United’s next generation no doubt keen to see what Fernandes has to say.
And when speaking about the young players recently, Fernandes urged them to be humble and keep training well:
“I think it’s always good for the club when we have young lads coming from the Academy, because it’s a sign that the work being done in the youth [ranks] is working.
“Of course it’s still a long way [to go]… I remember when I was young and training with the first team, it’s the first step. Now is the time to be humble, keep training well and keep doing the right things when they go back to the U18s and U23s, and you have to try to make the difference over there.”
Fernandes added:
“They have to keep their heads clean, because it’s easy to come in to the first team and your head goes a little bit, and it’s also hard when you have to go back and train and play with the other teams again.
“I was in that position some years ago and I know it’s hard, but if you work and are humble and you understand that every time you play is a chance, no matter where you are playing, every time is a chance to show you are ready or that you want to make that next step.”
