Rashford was forced off during the second half of United’s win at rivals Manchester City.
There were fears the striker had suffered ankle ligament damage but scans have reportedly shown just heavy bruising.
Such is the damage, though, the England striker will miss the visit of the Italian giants.
On Rashford, Solskjaer said: "I don't think he'll be available for tomorrow. He's still getting treatment but he didn't join in the training today.
"Even though I'm normally a very optimistic guy, I still think he's out of tomorrow night and probably a doubt for the weekend."
Cavani sat out the derby win and could return on Thursday, despite his father claiming the striker is unhappy at the club. Anthony Martial is expected to start.
Paul Pogba's thigh injury is expected to keep him out, having been missing for a month. David de Gea remains absent following the birth of his daughter, so Dean Henderson will keep his place.
Solskjaer added: "I'm not sure if anyone will be back, no. David is not available. Donny (van De Beek), no. Paul, no.
“Edinson, maybe but probably not. Juan (Mata), no. And Marcus maybe but probably not. So, similar to Sunday but maybe we've lost Marcus."
