Man Utd unlikely to succeed in their Varane pursuit

Manchester United were set to bid £40m for Real Madrid’s Raphaël Varane after “exploratory talks” with the defender’s entourage, but according to Diario AS, that bid is likely to fall short, with Real still valuing the 28-year-old at €70m. While Real could accept something slightly lower, United’s bid is said to be way below expectations.

There are a number of other clubs interested in Varane’s services, including Liverpool, with some hoping to sign him on a free in 2022 as well. However, Madrid do not intend on letting that happen and will be looking to cash in this summer.

Pau Torres

Pau Torres may not one of the favorites on Chelsea’s centre back wish list, but he is reportedly still on our radar. And he could perhaps rise in the ranks if Gazzetta dello Sport’s claim (via Sport Witness) is true, and he could be available for as low as €30m.

Manchester United, Real Madrid and Napoli are among the interested parties, with the latter set to accelerate discussions should they qualify for next season’s Champions League.

Fikayo Tomori

AC Milan’s intention to sign Tomori has been mentioned a number of times over the past couple of weeks and months, and now Gazzetta dello Sport (via Sport Witness) are reporting that Milan have in fact made the “final decision” to pay the €28m purchase clause and sign him permanently.

There were initial doubts regarding whether the Rossoneri could make the financial commitment to keep the youngster, but Tomori’s performances and Milan’s likelihood of qualifying for next season’s Champions League have apparently resolved those doubts.
