Manchester United midfielder Nemanja Matic has shared an incredible picture of key first team stars mixing with Sir Alex Ferguson.
Ferguson flew to Gdansk for the Europa League final with the team, and despite Luke Shaw telling his press conference on Tuesday he wasn’t sure if the former boss would mix with the stars too much ahead of the game, it looks like the great man has been more than happy to.
Matic shared an image of himself, Juan Mata, Bruno Fernandes and Edinson Cavani, four of the squads more senior players, sitting down at a dinner table with Sir Alex Ferguson.
The Serbian said he thanked Sir Alex for his advice and support and adds the players are ready to give everything.
United take on Villarreal in the final which kicks off at 8pm.
Fergie won the Champions League in 1999 and 2008, plus the European Cup Winners Cup in 1991 and earlier than that, in 1983 with Aberdeen, but never actually lifted the UEFA Cup, now the Europa League.
The only reason he didn’t win it, was because United rarely played in it, as the team regularly played in and qualified for the latter stages of the Champions League.
This trophy is seen as a stepping stone for Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s side to rediscover former glories, a bit like Sir Alex’s Cup Winners Cup triumph in ’91.
Ferguson is clearly keen to see his former player and club win again, and experience a special feeling of winning silverware that he has felt several times before.
