Tottenham are reportedly looking at Manchester City’s Gabriel Jesus and Manchester United’s Anthony Martial as potential transfer targets this summer.

The Daily Mail, along with several other national media outlets, report that Spurs forward Harry Kane has informed his club his intention to leave this summer.

It is explained that Man City, Man United and Chelsea are the teams in the race for the 27-year-old’s potential signature.

The Mail’s report claims that Spurs have been planning for a while ahead of the likely summer departure of Kane.

It is stated that the north London club’s recruitment staff have looked at Premier League strikers Jesus and Martial as possible targets should they lose the England captain.

If Man City or Man United were to bid for Kane, it’s thought that Jesus or Martial could be targeted in a part-exchange deal this summer.

Martial, 25, is a French forward who’s been at Old Trafford since 2015, and is a speedster with plenty of experience.

Meanwhile, 24-year-old Brazilian striker Jesus is part of a superb Man City squad, and he’s scored 13 goals in all competitions so far this season.

Man City frontman Jesus amazed pundit and ex-Spurs forward Peter Crouch earlier this season for his performance against Wolverhampton Wanderers in the league:

“It has been difficult for him, maybe not been as clinical as [Sergio] Aguero – being compared to such a great player must be difficult. But he works so hard, his movement is good and he got his two goals,” Crouch told BT Sport, as relayed by The Boot Room.

TBR’s View:

With speculation flying around about the future of Kane, Spurs definitely need plans in place in case they do lose their talisman in attack. He would leave a mammoth gap at the club if he left, which is why they can’t be left to panic buy if he departs at the end of the season.

It’s going to be an almost impossible task to replace a goal machine like Kane, but a good place to start is with someone that’s proven they can score goals at Premier League level.

Jesus and Martial are experienced in English football, but both fall into the category of inconsistent. They are both red-hot in the final third when they are in form, but similarly can go missing in big moments.
