Fans at Old Trafford are ramping up attempts to pressure the Glazer family into selling Manchester United, with efforts intensifying after the failed European Super League breakaway

The Manchester United Supporters Trust have distributed free protest cards at Old Trafford for Tuesday’s fixture against Fulham in a further protest against the club’s owners.

The Glazer family are under increased pressure to cash in following their role in the proposed European Super League plans, which fell apart in the space of 72 hours in April.

United’s recent Premier League clash against Liverpool was postponed after fans broke onto the Old Trafford pitch on May 2.

Supporters again turned up outside Old Trafford in big numbers ahead of the rescheduled match on May 13, which the Red Devils lost 4-2.

In an effort to unify the club in their attempts to find new ownership, the Manchester United Supporters Trust today encouraged returning fans to collect free cards to protest again on Tuesday.

Security at Old Trafford has escalated since the Old Trafford break-in, with the club erecting barriers around the ground in an effort to avoid a repeat incident.

United were one of six Premier League clubs who had agreed to be among the 12 founding members of the European Super League.

Protest cards were emblazoned in green and gold, the original colours of the club when it was founded as Newton Heath in 1878

Rivals Manchester City, Liverpool, Chelsea, Arsenal and Tottenham were also in line to form the breakaway competition but later withdrew following fan outcry.

United co-owner Joel Glazer wrote an open letter to fans apologising for their part in the European Super League.

However, those words didn’t resonate with the Supporters Trust, which responded: “The message we want to hear from the owners is that they are putting in place the Fan Share Scheme which will begin the transfer of ownership to the real supporters of our club - the people who have its best interests at heart.”

The Glazers completed their takeover of the club in 2005 with help from the club's executive vice-chairman, Ed Woodward, who will leave United at the end of this year.

United have lost back-to-back Premier League fixtures for the first time since January 20 ahead of their midweek meeting with Fulham.
